Here we gooooo!
We left St. Augustine pretty early around 8am to continue our journey to the most magical place on earth...(note: here you will enter the depths of my Disney addiction, geekiness... get used to the magical, dreams come true, overwhelming cheeriness...) We drive about an hour and 45 minutes I think. but seemed like an eternity. Not only were we going to the place where dreams come true, but we get to be a part of the crowd for the taping of the ABC WDW Christmas parade. Doing some research, Tim sending out emails, we got passes for the 11:00 taping. So excited!
We get to the Carribean Beach Resort. Needless to say, it didn't feel very tropicalish.. It was a cloudy, overcast, light mist rain... BUT didn't stop my sunshine spirit. We check in, and the room is not ready, to we go to the Magic Kingdom straight away for the taping. We got there and found out that we were slated to be in the audience for the Dancing with the Stars segment. SO COOL! I love that show, and getting back into dance myself, extra exciting. So we walk in and see the castle. Yes, tears, for that one breathtaking moment, it flips you back to when you were a child, and the the trips in between to now with my own little guy once again. I look at Tim (and there was a slight twinkle of tear in his eyes, even though he was wearing sunglasses) and my little man all cute, sigh...it is a moment and I like to think of it as a tradition now. So I stand there for a moment, soak in as much Disney as I can, realize we gotta go see our DWTS event! haha We also find out that Jessica Simpson and Katherine McPhee are also taping.
Cool, eh? Jon Secada was doing the singing, while the dancers did their thing... here are some pictures...
The stage is all set up
Drew and Cheryl...
My Dad's fave, Julianna
Jon Secada
Another shot of Drew and Cheryl... She was so much prettier in person...usually its other way around, you know?
Sabrina who looks so much like a friend of mine, its scary...haha
Here is another one...its Joey Fatone and Kym... he was so fun, and you knew he could have been miserable...but he really entertained everyone. Good guy.
When they were finished, Jessica Simpson was next (supposed to be Katherine McPhee, but DWTS took too long and for whatever reason, Jess was bumped up...) so we waited, and waited...got some lunch at Casey's and I ran back over just to get one shot and we were gonna go... our room was ready, it was rainy and Tyler was so tired. We waited some more, then she FINALLY came on :) Tim ran up and got some pictures for me and we high tailed out of there :) Our room was ready and the vacation was just about to really begin.
One more of Jessica Simpson
We get to our room and it is a great location ☺ We have a water view and we are also right next to the pool! We stayed in the Martinique section right next to Old Port Royale where the food and shops were. This resort is very spaced out. Here is a picture of our towel animal ☺ I am seriously all about the towel animals! Who would have thought this thing would make us so happy. Haha More on that later.
We have dinner reservations for The Concourse at the Contemporary Resort Hotel. (This happened to be the first placed I stayed ever when I was 5 years old) . It was perfect because the monorail rode right through while we were having dinner and it kept Tyler occupied. We tried the nap, but it just consisted of the three of us, laying in the dark in the middle of the day with the excitement of Disney World all around us… I think Ty slept for a little bit, but Tim and I were wide eyed, like children waiting for Santa on Christmas morning.
Our waiter was named Jesus…now that is always a good sign of the trip to come. ☺ He was so nice.
We were on the Dining Plan…can I just say, way toooo much food. It was crazy!
Tim got the Lobster Bisque and we got the Onion Rings and Dips (I am such a dipper, this was perfect)
Tim got the special which was some sort of Buffalo… he was scared, but brave and really liked it ☺
Looking at it now, it does look somewhat scary…
I got the Filet Minon which was sooo good…picture is blurry…we were sort of in a rush, I mean, who takes pictures of their food…I am giving a DETAILED trip report, something I learned from my Disboards friends…
Still didn’t help me not feel embarrassed. Haha
Ty got the pizza and of course lots of steak. He loves it! I felt like I had to order it for him. Haha he was so cute.
Gotta love the monorails right about now!
We ordered dessert…we both got the Crème Brulee… Tim’s fave! I wanted him to finish mine, way tooo much sweet, but delicious!
Afterwards we rode the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation center, to hop on the monorail to Epcot. All the light were just brilliant and just way beyond my expectations.
Here is one last shot of Ty in front of the tree…
After a totally full, fun, exhausting day, we went back to the resort, watched Illuminations from our resort and went to sleep…
Disney dreams and all…
Up next...
Animal Kingdom and resort fun!
